Spy Hop - (Orca takes a look around)
Spy Hop. This is the first oil painting I have painted on board (called a cradle). Showing part of a whale underwater was the challenge. Orca eyes can see in the air as well as underwater. It is thought that orca spy hop to get a view of what is around them on top of the water and perhaps in the distance. A view that can not be seen from under the water. Since they spend about 90% of their time under the water, this is a treat to see them peeking out..
